	Emerging Trends \| Emerging Professionals October, 26-27th @ The Cornhusker Hotel, Lincoln, NE AWARDS The awards below will be presented at the AIA Nebraska Excellence in Design Gala on October 26, at The Country Club of Lincoln, 3200 South 24th Street, Lincoln 6:00 – 9:00 pm Reception. 6:00 – 7:00 pm AIAS Mentoring (Optional) The first ever speed mentoring event with AIA Nebraska and AIAS Nebraska is a great way to give the next generation of emerging professionals a glimpse of what it is like to be an architect. Licensed architects will meet one-on-one with students for 4 minutes each to answer questions about their experience with the profession before meeting the next participant. 7:00 pm Excellence in Design Awards Program AIA NE Excellence in Design Jury Chair, Christopher Herr, AIA will present this year's winning projects. Drummond to Receive Harry F. Cunningham Gold Medal R. Wayne Drummond, FAIA, will be awarded the 2011 Harry F. Cunningham Gold Medal for Architectural Excellence in the State of Nebraska. The Gold Medal is the highest honor that AIA Nebraska can bestow and is awarded in recognition of the most distinguished achievement in architecture or service to the profession of architecture in the State of Nebraska. The Gold Medal commemorates the achievements of Harry Francis Cunningham who came to Nebraska as lead architect for Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue's office during completion of the tower phase of construction for the State Capitol following Goodhue's death in 1924. It was Goodhue's revolutionary building design which won the nationwide competition in 1920 for the creation of the state house in Lincoln. Cunningham subsequently established the first school of architecture at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. Click here to read more about this year's recipient.
